My first (and still favorite) car is this '88 Porsche 944. I purchased it sight unseen from California in the spring of 2020 when everyone was going crazy looking for projects. I figured it would be as good a time as any to dive in head-first and get serious about teaching myself how to work on cars. I was right, and it really sparked a passion for mixing the roles of a mechanic and mechanical engineer as much as I could.

My original intention was to continuously restore it. Since then, after taking care of the essentials, I've gotten into more of a "fix it when it breaks" mentality in the interest of maximizing seat time.

Few of these projects were carefully documented, but I've got lots of miscellaneous photos, and a list of the jobs I'd be happy to talk more about, including:

  • Timing belt, balance shaft belts, and engine pulleys

  • Brake caliper rebuilds and line replacements on all 4 corners

  • Brake master cylinder replacement

  • Full clutch hydraulics replacement including master cylinder and slave cylinder

  • Custom welded cat-back exhaust

  • Window regulators and speakers

  • Plugs, plug wires, rotor, and distributor

  • Custom battery cables

  • Climate control actuator repairs

  • Repairing the gears in the dreaded sunroof mechanism

  • Instrument cluster repair and odometer gear replacement
